PrOFILE



                            Vikrom was born on March 17,
                         1953, in Kanchanaburi province. He is
                         the eldest son of his family, with 23
                         brothers and sisters, a number which
      includes stepbrothers and stepsisters. He has been interested in business
      and marketing since he was just 4 years old; while still studying in
      grade 3, he took over a roasted peanut shop started by an aunt. He could
      save hundreds of dollars by this small beginning. After receiving a
      Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from National Taiwan
      University in Taipei, he returned to Thailand and set up an import-
      export business in 1975 under the name V&K Corporation, Ltd. Since
      then he moved into developing industrial estates; he now has two estates
      in Thailand and one in Vietnam, with a total gross output of over 30
      billion US Dollar, employing around 300,000 people and facilitating
      1,000 factories.
           He currently serves as Chairman of the Amata Foundation,
      spending his humble life for a decade to write several books including
      Be a Better Man, Fire Amata, Korrangsrangthurakit (business
      part), Vikrom’s Vision, Yuu bab Vikrom (Vikrom’s Life Style), World
      CEOs (Volume 1-9), and the newest one, Cheevitmai  (A New Life
      in Caravan) reflecting his experiences and attitudes to positively
      motivate readers and develop the society. The books circulation in Thai
      language hits 2 million copies and these have recently been translated
      to English, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Japanese versions.
           In 2011, he explored the new life challenge by travelling with
      motor home cars and his caravan team to 3 countries around Greater
      Mekhong Sub Region including Laos, Vietnam, and Southern China
      within 3 months. A six month journey in 2012 to Cambodia, Vietnam,
      China, Mongolia, Laos, and Myanmar has been supported by Ministry
      of Foreign Affairs, The Tourism Authority of Thailand, Office of the
      Board of Investment, Department of Export Promotion, and The Stock
      Exchange of Thailand. During the trip, he also promoted Thailand with
      “Future ASEAN and Asia” seminar topic to foreign investors in over
      20 cities along the way.
           As one of Asian man who dedicates his retirement life to educate
      the people, he aims to let the world know more about Asia by writing
      a book “A New Life in Caravan Asia” annually after finishing the
      caravan journey and by producing worldwide broadcasting TV program
      “Asia Rising” and the film “Driven”. His Thai TV program “Vikrom’s
      Vision” is now showing on Thai TV Channel 3 every Monday to
      Friday.
